RISE Mzansi Youth and Student Chapters express their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of an 18-year-old University of Johannesburg (UJ) student tragically lost during a shooting in Braamfontein. Dedicated to a safe, prosperous, equal, and united South Africa, RISE Mzansi stresses the urgent need for enhanced safety measures, especially in neglected areas like Braamfontein.

Transitioning to university life poses challenges including homesickness and academic stress, leaving students vulnerable. Addressing this requires prioritizing student safety over safeguarding university facilities.

The pervasive culture of violence in South Africa necessitates new solutions and leaders to guide towards a safer future. RISE Mzansi stands in solidarity with affected students and supports safety improvements. Download the complete media statement release above.
